You may have noticed that some of our products have warning symbols on them – these warnings are here due to legislations from the European Union and the United Nations to ensure that everyone has consistent, simple to understand information about the chemicals contained within a product. The warnings refer to some unlikely scenarios e.g. ingesting huge amounts of the product; however, we would like to assure you that our products are safe when used as directed. Our formulations for Silver Sparkle and Silver Cutlery Rinse contain a small amount of a chemical called Thiourea, which is a key ingredient for removing tarnish. In 2015 EU regulations changed about how chemical products are labelled, so we are now obliged to show a Carcinogenic warning on the packaging. The classification of Thiourea is based on animal studies where Thiourea was ingested daily for prolonged periods, so in order for it to cause any harm it has to be consumed in vast amounts over a long amount of time. We can assure you that Silver Sparkle and Cutlery Rinse are safe products when used as directed. We have been manufacturing them for decades and have never had any incidents of it causing any harm.
